Funeral of Rev’d Peter Rolls

To the church family of Christ the King

The funeral of Revd Peter Rolls will take place on Saturday 16th September at 11.30am in St James Church, Meltham Mills.

In very recent years Peter has had a passion for cake, in fact his eyes would light up at the sight of cake, so after the service everyone is invited to stay, share memories of Peter and join us for a cup of coffee/tea and cake.

Picnic in the Park

Saturday 26th August

11am -4pm

The Parish is providing large games for the Meltham Picnic in the Park and St. James’ will provide a quiet space in church.  We will need help setting up the games at 9.30am.  From 11am we need people to chat to the adults and children who come to play the games and people to be in church for anyone who wants to come for a time of reflection.  If you can help with the games at some point during the day, please email Alison Whiteley: alisonwhiteley@ntlworld.com  If you could spend some time in church, please email Jenny Mathers: jennymthrs@aol.com.

Meltham Community Open Day

As many of you know as you’re already involved, there is a ‘Meltham Community Open Day’ on Saturday 29th April from 11am-3pm in both the Carlile Institute and the Crossroads Centre. There will be a stall with information about our Parish.  If you could spare a little time to be there to chat to people, that would be great.  Can you let me know if you can help?

Thanks

Alison

Housegroup

The housegroup at Dawn and Matt’s (6 Woodland Walk) will begin again on Monday 9th January at 8pm.

The meetings are very relaxed and give you the opportunity to share thoughts, questions and experiences.

Everyone is welcome and you don’t have to attend every week.

Christmas is coming!

So here is the plan! Friday morning 10.00 working party at Parish hall and St Barts to do 2 things. 1 set up parish hall for fayre and 2 install the nativity scene and lights, then round to St James’ to do the same.

Saturday morning there may be some finishing off jobs to do as well as help needed for the Christmas fayre.  We know people are working etc. but if you can prioritise some time it will be really appreciated. My guess is we need about 6 people at least.

 Thanks

Mike Still

Thank you!

Thank you to everyone who contributed our ‘Crisis’ coffee morning yesterday.  It was the busiest yet and we appreciated the support from all our friends and the community. We are delighted to say that £4870 has been raised.
